Nami Island Tour from Seoul for Families
Nami Island belongs to Chuncheon in Gangwon. Its gardens and forests change with the seasons, and the island fits easily into a Seoul trip. Here is what the island’s official guide says, and the routes where we include it.

Getting there
Visitors reach the island by ferry, by motorboat or by zip-wire, which only runs towards the island. The ferry ride takes about 5 minutes from the wharf in Gapyeong. With a private car from Seoul, your guide handles the tickets and the timing.
Open all year
The official guide says Nami Island is open 365 days a year. Ferries run in the rain, and in winter an icebreaker keeps the route open. Temporary suspensions, for example when upstream dams release a lot of water, are announced on the island’s website. Some facilities may change with the weather.
Best seasons
Each season looks different:
- Spring: flowers across the island.
- Summer: deep shade along the forest paths.
- Autumn: foliage usually from mid-October to early December, with ginkgo at its best from late October to mid-November.
- Winter: snow and icicles across the island.
Food on the island
The island has restaurants serving Korean and other Asian dishes, pizza and pasta, and dakgalbi, plus cafés with views in several spots, so a family can stay for lunch.
